Kindergarten Readiness

Preparing your child for success as they transition into a new school.

During early childhood, young children and their families experience many transitions as a result of rapid growth and development, changing family and child’s needs and the response of the early childhood system of services. Going through developmental stages prompts many changes and shifts within the home, as well as the transitions children and families experience when moving from one program or setting to another. As children and families transition from one setting to another, they may experience new rules and expectations, routines, ways of learning, relationships with peers and adults, and the physical environment.

What Does It Mean To Be “Ready” for Kindergarten?

When your child is “ready” for Kindergarten, that means they have the foundational skills to get the most from their early learning experiences. “Readiness” = Success.

We’re here to point you in the right direction to ensure your child has what they need to begin school. Families, early care and education providers, school staff, and community partners work together to provide environments and developmental experiences that promote growth and learning. It takes a village. When we work together, children enter school eager and excited to learn, and on their way to a great future.
