Ages 3 to 6

Preschool Years

You are your child’s first and most important teacher.

Providing experiences that promote growth, and learning, will ensure your child enters school ready and is excited to learn. How your child plays, learns, speaks, acts, and moves offers important clues about your child’s development. Milestones matter!

As your child grows through early childhood experiences, their world will open as they explore and ask about the things around them. Encourage your child to make-believe. Exploring and playing creatively greatly affects a child’s imagination and development. Play is how your child discovers their world, allowing them to explore and express themselves, control their environment, and connect with others.

The early years are the best opportunity for a child’s brain to develop the connections they need to be healthy, capable, successful adults. These years are crucial for making connections. Your child’s brain keeps growing to about 80% of adult size by age 3 and 90% – nearly fully grown – by age 6.
